Make a Halloween craft and practise your Spanish.

Here at Nano Spanish Club we have created a video to teach you how to make a typical Halloween decoration from Mexico and you will be able to practise and learn some new Spanish vocabulary vocabulary.

I am sure every child in your household is already getting ready to go out trick or treating this Halloween. In Mexico children and adults alike will be also getting ready for their big celebration on the 1st and 2nd of November, el Día de los Muertos. On these two days, the people in Mexico, honour family members that passed away. It is a colourful celebration full of decorations, flowers and special food.

I thought this would be the right time to do some decoration Mexican style.

Let’s try and do some Papel picado buntings, one of the most typical decorations of Dia de los muertos.

What you need:

Different colours tissue paper: papel de seda de diferentes colores
Scissors: tijeras
String: cueda
Glue: pegamento

How to do it:

1. Fold the paper as many times as you like
2. On the sides cut squares, triangles or half circles depending on whet the children can manage
3. Open up the paper, fold the top bit, place the string inside the fold and glue it to the paper
4. Make a bunting with all the different coloured paper.

Watch this video and practice all your new Spanish words:

I hope you enjoy making this decoration! you can share your Mexican Halloween buntings on our FB group Nano Spanish Club.
