In this post today we are going to cover why offering language learning is fun for the children, the staff and the parents.
When children are young, they are learning sponges. Every new experience, every word they learn, every behaviour they adopt, is an investment in a more fruitful future.
You can never have a greater impression on a person than when they are in their early childhood years.
Early year’s education and practitioners can make all the difference in a child’s current and future’s development.
Offering language learning activities in a nursery environment will no doubt contribute to a varied and stimulating educational programme.
Young children hold all the best cards to make learning a fun and successful process but even better, we can have fun by teaching them too!
And that is the key word: HAVE FUN!
Play takes many forms, but the heart of play is pleasure — an important component in learning.
Play enhances every domain of a child’s development. Gross-motor skills, such as walking, kicking, or skipping, can be strengthened with activities that can be utilised to teach them a language too, like using hoops on the floor to follow a path while you count together in English and Spanish or jumping from hoop to hoop saying: “Jump” Or “salta” in Spanish. Fine motor skills can be practised by colouring in a worksheet while learning the colours in English and a second language, the possibilities are endless.
And of course, music, who does not like to have a fun dance or action song to play around, a magnificent way to learn another language while exploring sounds and Rhythms.
Add a language activity to your weekly planning and enjoy the benefits of learning while playing.
Remember, offering language learning at your nursery is also good for the parents, they can get involved in their children’s learning and are great role models to encourage and promote their progress.
Nano Spanish Club offers playful learning planning to make this possible at your nursery.
